About The Property

Chickaree and Pika are the newest, most luxurious and feature-rich of the Little Owl cabins. Designed by Den Outdoors and built in 2022, these cabins--neighbors and identical twins--combine modern guts with vintage decorative vibes. Chickaree and Pika were designed for those guests seeking the look, feel and warmth of a vintage cabin, with all the modern conveniences of an upscale primary home. They're ideal for couples or families with one small child. Dogs are welcome (1 per cabin)! You'll enjoy a cedar hot tub heated to 103-104 degrees; top notch appliances and cookware; a memory foam queen mattress, pellet wood stove, bidet toilet, speedy broadband, level 2 EV charging, Klipsch bluetooth speaker, ductless heat/AC, and all the most popular streaming services on our Samsung Frame TV. Chefs and foodies will rejoice in the professional-grade kitchen: dishwasher, convection oven, induction cooktop and microwave by Bosch; cookware by All Clad, Le Creuset and Staub; a KitchenAid stand mixer and food processor; Miele refrigerator w/ice maker, sharp Henckels chef's knives, Technivorm coffeemaker, OXO burr grinder, Chemex carafe, Fellows kettle and french press, Weber gas grill, and more utensils than you'll possibly need to satisfy your inner gourmand. The bathroom features Rudy's hair and body products, a Toto bidet toilet, and a shower with handheld and rainshower fixtures. At just under 450 square feet, these cabins pack in more luxury, features and usable space than most homes triple their size. Tiny home enthusiasts will appreciate the exceptional design quality and creative use of space in these tiny-but-mighty structures. When you're ready to get outside, you'll be within 30 minutes of Mt. Rainier National Park, White Pass Ski Area, the Pacific Crest Trail and the Goat Rocks Wilderness Area. Our cabin is located in a vacation home community with a roughly 50/50 mix of weekenders and full-timers. The neighborhood consists of traditional cabins, ranch homes and trailers in roughly equal parts. You will see an occasional car and pedestrian passing by, and our neighbors are within sight, but you'll still enjoy plenty of privacy and quiet for most of the season. Be advised that Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends in Packwood are more crowded than usual, and often noisy. Same for the week of July 4. If you're seeking peace and quiet on those holidays, we don't recommend this cabin. Max occupancy = 2 adults and 1 small child

Little Owl Cabin

Packwood, Washington5 Properties

We own and operate this thing called “Little Owl Cabin.” It started around 2006, in New York City of all places. Val was an affordable housing developer in the South Bronx; Ryan was a public policy consultant, designing and managing resource conservation programs. We used to take lots of trips to ski mountains and National Parks, back when VRBO was Almighty and Airbnb was a scrappy startup. As often as possible, we stayed in vacation rentals. We were spending too much time in boring hotels on
